Managing Disruption - The Rail Control Tower

Legge Infrastructure NRDG are pioneers of the Rail Control Tower for all of our Rail Logistics Operations. The Rail Control Tower is responsible for planning, coordinating and delivering the rail logistics operation, acting as the central role with control of and oversight of the entire rail logistics supply chain.
The Rail Control Tower is operated during all operational hours by the Rail Control Tower Manager (RCTM).

• The control tower is covered during all operational hours and the RCTM acts as the Person in Charge of all rail movements, ensuring a safe and efficient operation
• The RCTM is the first point of contact and direct liaison with the entire Rail Supply Chain including Network Rail, utilities and environment agency
• Internal and external stakeholder management by the NRDG Rail Team and RCTM has enabled HS2 rail logistics operations to be a huge success (see HS2 performance case study)
• The RCTM is responsible for enacting and delivering disruption mitigation plans

An example of the Rail Control Tower delivering industry leading performance and managing significant disruption can be seen in the image below. Despite numerous setbacks and issues the RCTM was able to enact quickly to ensure operations got back to plan ensuring minimal disruption to our rail operations and no commercial impact to our Client.
